Be Kind and Compassionate
Scripture: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Meditation: Kindness and compassion; not terms we often see today describing people – even Christians – in our culture. At times, it seems that that church is the place with the least kindness and compassion. This should not be! It is been said that the Christian church today is the only place where people kill their wounded. A sad, sad commentary about who we are as Christians. Too often, Christians do not receive the wounded, fallen brother in gentleness, but rather, in harshness and condemnation. Remember Galatians 6:1, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. The church should be a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. We need to receive the fallen brother and build him up rather than tear him down for blowing it. How much has God forgiven us? We also need to be forgiving.
Challenge: Do you reach out in kindness and compassion to those Christians who have slipped or fallen? Are you one to restore them and build them up or one of those Christians who have an attitude toward the weaker Christians? Or are you just not involved? You don’t know Christians who struggle? Your challenge is to be involved; to be kind and compassionate to those around you.
Thought for the Day: Lord, help me to be open to those who need restoration - to be kind and compassionate to my brother who is struggling or even has fallen.
