Endure

Matthew 10:22 KJV

(22) And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

This great verse is found among a list of great instructions Jesus gave to His disciples. He gave them power to do miracles and to preach in the cities of Israel, and then He gave them these instructions as He sent them out.

As Christians we are His disciples and Jesus has given us the power of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), the instructions now are to preach the gospel to the world. There will be persecutions, people will hate us, nevertheless we must endure, and we must brush off discouragement.

It is important enough to note that before we can endure any of this we must first begin. We begin when we surrender our lives to Jesus and follow Him, above all others. Jesus later says our love for Him must supersede our love for family. No one say it would be easy, but the reward is worth the labor.

Holding onto the simple truths of the scripture brings us much comfort, whether we are in a ship being tossed about by fierce winds or facing the constant attacks of our adversary. We are being honed to trust in the Master who holds the key to everything. At His pleasure He will open all the doors, break down every barrier, straighten every corner and give us the strength of endurance. When we have endured to the end we will look back at those afflictions and consider them weak compared to having known the Savior, and as a result of a victorious run, we will be rewarded with an everlasting reward.

Take comfort dear child of God, every path you must forge, Christ has gone before you, every gate that stands in your way He has broken down, every valley low; every mountain high, Jesus has already passed through it. No water will drown you; no fires ignite on you, no enemy will stand against you which haven’t already been defeated. These are but days dwindling till at last we stand in the presence of the Savior who has cast down every stronghold for us, then we will in victory look back and see, it was worth the journey, our Christian walk will have endured the task and now every child of God will receive the rewards He has promised.

The Christian walk is a great journey!
