Love your Enemies

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you.  Matthew 5:44

A Christian Response to an Enemy

What a challenge this verse presents!  God's Word speaks to us about how to live in this present world.  Our response to our enemies must be consistent with Christ's instructions.  We are to love our enemies.  This is not hard to understand, but not easy to implement.  I am persuaded that we only do this through the power of God in our lives.  My prayer for the enemies of Christianity is that God will rescue people who are so deceived to think that the world would be better off without Christians.  Surely God loves them and desires that they be saved.  I'm reminded of the Apostle Paul before his conversion.  He would not have been a "good prospect" to many people, but Jesus loved him and saved him.  Oh that God would use the love we show for our enemies to witness to them about the true and living God.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life...".  Let's show others "the Way".
